Structure & Reading Order
Heading levels, paragraphs and lists are tagged to reflect the document structure. Multi-column pages, sidebars and notes are checked for a meaningful reading sequence.
Serving US & EU Publishers Since 2014
PublishContent.Digital helps publishers and organizations prepare accessible PDFs from existing documents and source files. Our India-based team reviews structure, reading order, images, tables and navigation, with the accessibility target and testing scope agreed before production.
Remediation Scope
The work is scoped to your document type, source quality and delivery requirements.
Heading levels, paragraphs and lists are tagged to reflect the document structure. Multi-column pages, sidebars and notes are checked for a meaningful reading sequence.
Meaningful images receive descriptions appropriate to their purpose. Decorative content is marked as artifacts. Complex diagrams may need publisher input or longer descriptions.
Table headers and cell relationships are reviewed so the structure communicates the data. Equations and complex layouts are assessed during the sample review to agree a suitable approach.
Navigation, link text, bookmarks where required, document title and language information are reviewed against the agreed requirements.
For fillable PDFs, we review field labels, instructions and tab order. The form scope and required interaction checks are confirmed before production.
Adobe Acrobat and PAC checks are combined with manual structure, reading-order and screen-reader review. Findings are assessed against the agreed standards and delivery specifications.
Source Files
Send your existing PDF and, where available, the Word, InDesign, PowerPoint or Excel source. Selectable text gives us a starting point for content review, but tags, reading order and other accessibility requirements still need assessment. Include images, fonts where licensed, and your document guidelines.
Image-only pages need text recognition and correction before remediation. We assess scan quality and text accuracy, then agree the OCR and cleanup scope separately. Searchable text alone does not make a PDF accessible.
Production Workflow
Share representative pages, source formats, document and page counts, the required standard and your preferred deadline.
We confirm the remediation work, testing scope, free sample deliverable, quotation and schedule. OCR, complex tables, equations and forms are assessed at this stage.
We prepare the agreed structure and content, run validation tools, and manually review navigation, reading order and screen-reader behaviour.
You receive the remediated PDFs and agreed validation results or review notes. For batches, we agree delivery milestones and a feedback process.
Standards & Testing
Tell us whether your specification calls for WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 Level AA, PDF/UA, or an existing publisher checklist. We confirm the applicable requirements, PDF/UA version and testing tools before work begins.
Validation helps identify machine-checkable problems in tags, document properties and structure. Tool reports are reviewed and relevant findings addressed within the agreed scope.
Reading sequence, useful image descriptions, appropriate headings and understandable table relationships need human judgment. Keyboard and screen-reader checks are included as agreed. A passed automated check alone does not establish full accessibility conformance.

Common Questions
We review books, educational materials, reports and organizational documents. Send representative pages, especially those with complex tables, illustrations, equations or forms, so we can assess the scope.
No. Tags need to represent the content correctly, with meaningful reading order, headings, descriptions and navigation. We combine validation with manual review against the agreed requirements.
We can assess and remediate existing PDFs. Source files are useful when content, layout or contrast changes are needed. We confirm any limitations and the recommended approach after reviewing the document.
Yes, subject to sample review. OCR and text correction are assessed separately before tagging and other remediation. Scan quality, language and content complexity affect the work required.
We scope the work against your required WCAG level and PDF/UA specification. Share your standards, checklist and validation requirements so we can agree the production and review criteria.
The agreed deliverables are remediated PDF files, together with validation results or review notes where included in the scope. Any source-file corrections, unresolved content questions and batch requirements are agreed before production.
We assess source quality, page and document counts, layout complexity, tables, images, forms and testing requirements. We then provide a project-specific quotation and schedule; no fixed rate is assumed before sample review.
Yes. Send representative content and your requirements so we can agree a free sample scope. It lets you assess the remediation approach before committing to the full project.
